Join Downtown Brooklyn for Earth-friendly and car-free activities including music, fashion, cycling lessons, and more. Albee Square West will be closed to traffic all day, so bring your bike or roller skates, and enjoy activities and music at Albee Square Plaza.

Here’s what’s happening:

ON ALBEE SQUARE:

ALL DAY (11:00 AM – 3:30 PM)

• DJ Boogie will spin throughout the event with sets inspired by nature’s elements

• Make art from reused materials with Materials for the Arts (MFTA), NYC’s premier creative reuse facility. Build mosaics and other art projects with old CDs and vinyl!

• Brooklyn Book Bodega will offer free, environmentally themed books as part of their mission to increase the number of 100+ book homes for kids 0-18 in NYC.

• Learn to hand-sew and knit plastic fashionable items, or bring your old t-shirt to be repurposed with Black Girls Sew.

• Pulp Mobile invites you to make recycled paper while creating awareness about our environment.

• Write poetry with Poets in the Park.

• Raising Cane’s will be on hand with swag to win and giving away their signature lemonade and sweet tea.

2:30 PM – 3:15 PM

• Trashaganza! by Bash the Trash weaves together fun interactive songs, cool science, and timely environmental messaging about plastic pollution and climate change. 

ON ALBEE SQUARE WEST:

ALL DAY (11:00 AM – 3:30 PM)

• Test a CLIP Bike

• Learn all about composting with BK ROT and also take home some of Brooklyn’s finest compost for growing vegetables, herbs and also for jump starting soil remediation.

11:00 AM – 12:00 PM

• Dance your way to fitness with Brooklyn’s beloved Natarsha McQueen and her ever popular Zumba class. Register now!*

1:00 PM – 3:00 PM

• Learn to ride a bike with Bike New York!* Bike New York teaches kids 5 – 14 how to ride safely along Albee Square West (which is closed to traffic for the day), while parents and guardians cheer them on! Register!
