Gansevoort Peninsula: Manhattan’s First Beach

Manhattan's first public beachfront just opened at Hudson River Park!

Gansevoort Peninsula opened on October 2nd, 2023 and has a public beach, sports field, a beachfront landing for kayaks, 20 million oysters, gardens and more. It is the largest park built in New York City since Central Park.

The beach features 1,200 tons of sand with beach umbrellas, Adirondack-style chairs, a large picnic area with tables and benches, and a boardwalk. Swimming is not permitted.

There is a salt marsh, the first of its kind on the Manhattan side of the Hudson River. There are native grasses and plantings and 20 million juvenile oysters.

You can also expect tons of seating areas and beautiful views.

Gansevoort Peninsulsa is located in Hudson River Park between Gansevoort Street and Little West 12th Street, next to Little Island and Pier 57.
