Free Outdoor Movies in NYC
A great summer activity in NYC is FREE outdoor movie nights. You can watch a movie outside for free pretty much every day of the week. Check out this roundup across all boroughs, and more to be announced!
Manhattan
Bryant Park Paramount+ Movie Nights (June 10 - August 12): Bryant Park is celebrating its 31st year of summer movies on the lawn every Monday night. The lawn opens at 5pm, and movies start around 8pm.
Free Fridays on the Intrepid (May 24, June 28, July 26, August 23): Monthly series with free admission to the Intrepid. In the summer, there are movies screened on the flight deck starting at sunset featuring classic “ship-themed” films.
Pride Summer Movie Nights at Rockefeller Center (Saturdays in June): In partnership with NewFest, New York’s leading LGBTQ+ film and media organization, and Universal Pictures, Rockefeller Center will be hosting movie nights at The Rink throughout the month of June to celebrate LGBTQ+ Pride.
Oculus Outdoors (July 12 - August 24): Come experience Oculus Outdoors – free, outdoor movie screenings on select Friday nights and Saturday afternoons this summer. This year, they are screening two movies: family-friendly evening flicks on Friday evenings and kid-friendly movies on Saturday matinees.
Seaport Cinema (Various): Seaport Cinema is back! Had up to The Rooftop at Pier 17 for great movies (all music themed) and surprises throughout the season.
Elizabeth Street Garden (June 26 - August 21): Movie Night in the Garden is on select Wednesdays starting at 8pm
Union Square Summer in the Square (July 18 - August 1): Movie nights are back! Bring a blanket and a picnic dinner for you and your crew to watch this week's feature film at 8pm in the Central Lawn
Brooklyn
Paramount+ Movie Nights in Brooklyn (June 7 - September 5): This summer, you can catch your favorite films shown in Fort Greene Park, Prospect Park, McCarren Park and Coney Island Beach for free beginning at sunset.
Brooklyn Bridge Park Movies with a View (July 11 - August 29): Movies take place Thursdays in July and August at Pier 1 Harbor View Lawn. Doors open at 6:00 PM, movies start at sunset.
Town Square BK: SummerStarz (July 12 - August 9): Free movie series at Transmitter Park at 8pm. Grab a picnic blanket and friends with the gorgeous Brooklyn waterfront and NYC skyline in the background
Queens
Cinema LIC (June 22 - October 26): Family-friendly movie series with movies starting at sunset, 1-2x a month
Central Astoria Summer Movie Series (July 29 - August 19): Monday evenings at sundown at the Astoria Park Great Lawn
The Bronx
Starlight Cinema: Enchanted Forest (July 9 - July 30): Family friendly movie series with crafts and music beforehand

Movies Under the Stars (through September): The Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment and NYC Parks bring more than 150 film screenings to parks throughout the five boroughs. Films on the Green (May 31 - September 6): Villa Albertine’s beloved free outdoor French film festival, Films on the Green, will return to parks across Manhattan and Brooklyn, featuring 11 captivating films that celebrate the thrill, competition, and triumph of sports
Shakespeare in the Parks: Movies in the Parks (June 29 - September 6): The Public Theater is offering free screenings of MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING in parks across all five boroughs throughout the summer. Bring a blanket and snacks, find a great spot on the lawn, and enjoy!
